Historic Architecture is great. Would be great to have an exclusive transfer from airport to hotel for arrival. This would make hotel stand out. Live music in lobby in evenings would be a nice touch.

Our Guide To Cheap Hotels In Venice Italy

“Venice never quite seems real, but rather an ornate film set suspended on the water.” – Frida Giannini

The famed Italian fashion designer couldn’t have been more on point. When you first set eyes upon this magnificent city, it’s hard believe it’s real. The architecture looks too perfect, the people are too friendly, and the canals are too romantic. But it’s all real and it all blends together to create one of Europe’s most attractive destinations. When you find the right time to go, Travelocity will be your companion during your search for cheap hotels near Venice.

Where to Stay in Venice

When you stroll through the streets of Venice, it’ll feel like you time warped back to the famed Italian Renaissance period. The Gothic architecture of the Doge’s Palace and the Ca’d’ Oro are beyond eye-catching and the rich art culture will have you feeling like you’re about to run into Leonardo da Vinci around every corner. When you book a stay at one of our amazing Venice hotels, you’ll be close to it all, just check out our list of the best places to stay in Venice.

  • Hotel Canal Grande: Located along the Grand Canal in the historic district of Santa Croce, this classic Venetian boutique hotel is housed in a little palace called Ca’ Polacco. When the sun eventually wakes you from your deep slumber, wander out the back entrance and right into a gondola. Greet the day with a joyful journey down the Grand Canal as beautiful structures like the Palazzo FoscariContarini and the San Simeone Piccolo pass you by.
  • Hotel Cavalletto e Doge Orselo: If you’ve read anything about this floating city, you’ve no doubt heard of Piazza San Marco. Napoleon once called it “the drawing room of Europe.” And when you book a stay at this place, you’ll be the one holding the pen. Begin your picture by going for a walk along the calli until you get to the famous Bridge of Sighs. The windows of this enclosed bridge were the last views convicts had before heading off to the prison on the other side. These days it’s just another spectacular attraction you need to check off your list of must-sees.
  • Hotel Excelsior Venice: The number of fingers on one of your hands equals the number of stars this place has attached to it, giving it legitimate claim to being one of the best hotels in Venice. Sure, you could just book a regular room, but it’s time to treat yourself to one of the suites where the views of the Adriatic Sea are unbeatable. Head down to the concierge desk to reserve one of the white cabanas lining the shoreline for the day and let the Italian sun kiss your skin until your appetite becomes too strong to ignore. Luckily for you, there’s an on-site restaurant headed by executive chef Antonino Sanna who loves to whip up classic Veneto dishes like sarde in saor, squid ink risotto, and fried, small green crabs known as moteche. All that accompanied with bottles of red and white wine will put you soundly to sleep.
  • Hotel Metropole: The moment you arrive in this picturesque town, you’ll want to introduce your taste buds to some of the region’s finest wines. After a long day of sipping your way through the Valpolicella region in the province of Verona, make your way back to your Venice lodging and balance the vino out with a fine meal. The MET Restaurant has been awarded a coveted Michelin star and for good reason. Finally, when the day is done and the sun sinks below the horizon, enjoy one more toast while gazing over the beautiful waters of the Venice Lagoon.

A City of Museums

You consider yourself somewhat of a museum aficionado. Every place you’ve been you’ve seen them all. But just when you thought you couldn’t visit better ones, you come to Venice. Start off in St. Mark’s Square where for a mere 24 euros, you’ll be able to purchase a pass that will give you access to just about every museum in Piazza San Marco. Some of the must-see places are the Correr Museum, the Peggy Guggenheim Museum, and the Moncenigo Palace. And that’s just scratching the surface. Venture deeper into the historic streets of the city and discover what else it has in store for you.

You have a hankering for fine wine and perfectly cooked meals. And why wouldn’t you? You’re older now, more sophisticated, and refined in your tastes. That’s why, wise wanderer, you’ve been searching through Travelocity’s great selection of hotels in Venice, looking for the perfect one for you. All you have to do now is book, pack, and go. Ciao, bella!
