Felt like a cheap Motel experince

I have stayed at many Sheraton properties over the years and I would consider this a low end hotel.The furniture in the room was old and scratched up...more like a cheap motel....I was so upset with the room my husband and I were given I just checked out a few hrs after arriving and went home.The best part of the evening was our experience in the dining room which was an absolute ten,great staff and food.... took almost 15 minutes to check-out...wonder what that was all about?

Not Worth The Price

Pros: Great view of harbor
Cons: see above
Location: at the top of a hill. Great view . Easy access to Water Street, etc. but tough walk back for older folks
Poorly staffed by very nice people. Room ok but lacks amenities, for example: 1) no towel racks but hotel asks people to reuse towels (where do you put them?) 2) air conditioner incredibly noisy. kept room cool but sounded like a plane taking off 3) no snack place. ( nowhere to get a little food at off hours-no vending machine junk) 4) poorly maintained. Toilet seat loose, bolt stripped.

Towels can be hung on the hooks on the back of the bathroom door, full service hotels do not offer snack places but we do have vending machines available for this and we have no record of any other feedback but we will redouble our efforts to ensure our guests have fabulous stays. Disappointing

Pros: Good location
Cons: Staff was very unfriendly. During our week stay no one ever said good morning, no one ever smiled, and the atmosphere was cold and unwelcoming.
Location: Sightseeing on Signal hill and in town. Near by whale watching, bird watching, several nice parks.
We were attending a family reunion in St Johns Newfoundland. We had prepaid reservations for two rooms from July 30 through August 5. A few days before our arrival I emailed the hotel to remind them that we would be arriving late. We arrived at the hotel at about 11 PM and were told that they did not have rooms for us but would put us up at another hotel. No apologies, no explanations. We protested vigorously but no one seemed to care at all, so we took ourselves and four very tired children to a hotel at the other end of town. Next morning we returned to the Sheraton and tried to check in but now they claimed that we had reservations only until August 4. I showed them a printed copy of our prepaid reservation and spent another hour trying to get it all straight. I later heard that several other families from our reunion group had similar experiences when they tried to check in. We were finally able to get rooms and were offered a free night as compensation. Throughout our stay however the staff remained very cold and unfriendly. Never even a good morning or a smile. I would never stay at the St Johns Sheraton again.
