Preferred the decor prior to remodel. It was classic, traditional and opulent. The contemporary look is similar to many other hotels. Nothing to distinguish it from the pack. The food choices in Mowrey and Cotten were also not what I expected based on prior visits. Choice is limited and too “Southern California “ for me. We ended up eating off the resort most of our stay. Obviously the changes are directed to a different crowd than it was previously. Was disappointed with this visit for those two reasons.

Fabulous Large Resort

Pros: The hotel is in a great location and the grounds and facilities are immaculate. The desert garden was decorated for the holidays and was lovely.
Cons: It was perfect.
Location: The Phoenician is less than 2 hours from Sedona which is a wonderful day trip.
The Phoenician is a fabulous large resort on the edge of Scottsdale. We are a family of 5 and there was plenty of choices for everyone including tennis, bilking, pool, hot tub, kids club and golf. The service was very good even though the hotel was at capacity. The dining options were also great from the J & G steak house to the buffet breakfast to the food at the pool.

"I am so sorry" Was the common response from this hotel!

Pros: nice landscaping
Cons: Nothing close, No free Internet, poor service, closed restaurants, contemptuous staff
Physically stunning with well appointed but 'tired' rooms. From the bellman's non-smiling, contemptuous and aggressive delivery of bags; to the front desk clerk who chose to ignore me without acknowledgement for 5 minutes while he kept his head down in his computer, this was far from a 5 Diamond experience! My internet access was shut off for 12 hours for no explainable reason. I heard "I am so sorry" so many times, I thought it was their motto! The Hotel closed their three restaurants for two evenings while I was there leaving the exorbitant room service as the only option or leave the property which is about two miles from anything at all. That may have been a blessing as the food prices are unreasonably high for pretty average food. I asked for butter no less than three times from three different waitstaff at lunch and finished my meal without it. These are the indisputable facts of my experience. There is not enough room here for my 'opinion'. You should make your decision about this property based on the facts, not opinions! It should be easy to find a much better experience for much less money than they over charge for here.

I felt like I was queen for a day!

This was the best stay at a hotel I have ever had. The hotel room was so clean I even enjoyed a tub bath which I never do in a hotel. I have already recommended the Phonecian to friends who just stayed there a few weeks ago and had the same wonderful experience. The food was excellant and the service was the same. I would love to go back again

Very comfortable, well appointed, friendly and helpful staff

Pros: Close restaurants, fantastic golf
Tha grounds are beautifully maintained. The hotel is lovely with beautiful views of the valley. The pools and amenities are second to none. The staff treats each guest as a VIP.

Outstanding resort

Beautiful faciities, great golf course and spa. Service was outstanding in all areas except the steak restaurant which was a big disappointment in service and food quality.

Exactly what we were looking for

Pros: Close restaurants, Quiet, lots to do
Travelling with a toddler near the holidays, we wanted to have a hotel with lots of things to keep her busy. The Phoenician had it! There are fountains everywhere, there was a train display in the lobby, fabulous music entertainment in the evenings, multiple pools to choose from (even if it WAS freezing outside...the water was heated!), walks to take. The room was lovely and spacious. The bathroom was huge. I had always wanted to stay there and paid a small fortune to do so, but it was worth it! We have stayed at a number of nice places since then with not nearly the entertainment value. I have seen other reviews complain about the datedness of the rooms...I disagree. Tastefully done. Yes, the food was pricey.
