Good value, interesting part of town

Pros: Close restaurants, Quiet
Cons: No free Internet
Close to good cheap eating places, very close to Queen Victoria market, nice walk to subway and main downtown. 30 minute walk to the Convention centre where I spent most of my time (which was too far). Internet cost was exhorbitant

It was newly renovated, clean and staff was courteous! Only things that were missing was dresser drawers,(I was there for 5 days and couldn’t unpack my luggage); and microwave oven (I was craving Microwave Popcorn)!

Thanks Marilyn, glad your overall experience was 4 out of 5! While our rooms are traditional hotel style and not apartment style, they do not have a lot of the feature a kitchenette might have. Our staff, and kitchen are always on hand to be able to help you out with a snack like some delicious popcorn.

not too enthusiastic

Pros: good location
Cons: Noisy, very few services
The Jasper is located in a noisy area. The staff is not particularly friendly. The rooms are small. There is no bar or restaurant. Somehow, the hotel looked much better on the web than it is. I will not return there. IN my view, it is not worth it's stars.

Average comfort, but clean

The double room was spotlessly clean, but there were some problems: only one extra blanket for cold nights; no drawers in which to put clothes and cramped for space; despite state of the art fixtures in the bathroom, the drain in the bathroom sink was practically blocked (old plumbing?); there were no tissues to be found anywhere. The location was ideal, within walking distance of where I needed to go, the University of Melbourne.

Way better than I thought

This hotel is located at a superb location in CBD. Food and fun are within walking distance. The most amazing thing is the price. There was no other hotels at the nearby location that costs about the same for the quality I got. Will definitely come back should I visit Melbourne again.

Loved it, would stay there again.

The room & premises were clean, neat and smelled fresh. The twin room we had was slightly on the small side, but that was not an issue for 2 single travellers with no children. Small bathroom (no tub, shower only) but it was very clean and more than comfortable for our purposes. Beds were soft and sheets crisp. I would've preferred a firmer mattress, but no real complaints there. The pay-per-use washing machine & dryer is a definite plus. Terminals for internet (not wifi) were available for a fee; it would've been nice to have free wifi services for guests to use. No room service, with breakfast served at the Kitchen cafe only. However, we did not patronize the Kitchen as we felt it was too expensive, especially with the Queen Victoria Market so nearby. Location was perfect - not too far from the heart of the City but not too close to the noisier parts of town either and only a couple of blocks from Melbourne Central to the train & tram lines. Neighbourhood felt secure too, even at 2am. Service was efficient, if a little curt. Requests for extensions, late check-out and baggage storage while we walked about town waiting for our midnight flight were courteously entertained by the front desk staff. Rates were value-for-money, especially in comparison to other similarly rated hotels in the Melbourne CBD. We would definitely stay there again and recommend it to anyone who asks.

Stay at the Jasper Hotel

Fantastically located on Elizabeth Street just next to Victoria Market, near Lygon street and a tram stop. Rooms are clean and air-condition is excellent.
