Home away from home.

Pros: It was close to our purpose for visiting. Our grandchildren.
Cons: Worn mattresses need to be replaced and better food selections for people with dietary needs.
Location: Close to stores and restaurants. Close to major highways, making the trips to the airport quick and easy.
All in all enjoyed our stay and would stay there again. The staff was always friendly and greeted us as we came and went. The breakfast was always hot, even if it wasn't cooked like my wife cooks for me. It would have been nice if they offered things for people with dietary needs. The wife got tired of eating bacon or sausage and apple slices (no sugar, no carbs). We had to go the store and get "fat free yogurt" and strawberries. The rooms were clean and well appointed, but the mattresses were a little worn on the edges. The first bed we slept in was broken down on the edge and the wife almost fell out of bed when she got close to the edge. Fortunately for us the other bed was better so we just swapped.

nice location, laminate floors

Pros: Laminate floors
Cons: Breakfast options. The blackout curtain wasn't set up as well as or hotels, it still let in some light.m

Loved the laminate floors. Beds were comfy, pillows were fine. Breakfast was just ok. Close to west edmonton mall.

Happy to hear you loved our new laminate floors we still 54 guestrooms with new carpet for those who like the cushioned feel under their feet. Our Hot Breakfast Buffet has a big selection of hot and cold to choose from and it's complimentary.

Mostly positive with one exception

Firts off, let me say that the staff was great -- the desk clerks, the waiter in the restaurant, the accountant. The room was clean, comfortable, and had ample space. The free breakfast was significantly better than at other hotels on my trip. However, the hotel has what I consider an unusual and intrusive policy. They indicate that if someone smokes in his room or brings a pet in the room, there will be a charge of $250.00 charge for cleaing. Now this wasn't a particular problem since I neither smoke nor did I bring a pet. The problem is that the hotel put through to my bank a "Temporary Authorization" for a charge of $250.00, effectively barring my use of that money. And they did this on Check-In. In effect, they held my money hostage. When I inquired why they had to do this at Check-In, I was told that sometimes people just leave the hotel without checking out. Not a satisfactory answer, since they could charge a credit card after the guest had left. This whole process, seems to me, to reflect the hotel's negative attitude toward its guests -- that is, the assumption that everyone is a potentially suspected of being dishonest.

Please be sure to always check the hotel's policy wherever you decide to stay prior to arrival. This way you have no surprises. The damage deposit is standard and is only a hold not a purchase unless of course you smoke or bring a pet into a non designated room. The hotel has no recourse as we do not have your credit card on file when you book through an online agent. This is to protect the hotel from damages.
