Stayed here for the Chicago marathon and was pleased to see they had extended a free late checkout (2:00) to all marathoners so that I could shower and store my luggage. I also enjoyed the pasta buffet the night before the marathon.

Thank you for staying at Congress Plaza Hotel

I think the Congress is the quietest hotel I have ever stayed in - love it! Those old thick walls keep everything out. Yes, they are a bit old but the rooms are clean and nice. I have stayed here several times and will continue to return. I wouldn't mind if they put in a well run and easy access coffee area.

The Congress is beautiful old hotel. However, the parking can be a real pain. Their parking facility was full and they weren’t much help in locating another parking facility near the hotel. You are on your own, which I definitely did not like.

Location can't be beat. Friendly staff. Free wifi for one device only was quite disappointing.

Thank you for staying at Congress Plaza Hotel

In order to enter the property you have to show your room key to the security office stationed at the front. This is unprofessional and could be considered discriminatory, especially since many of the hotel guest I observed (including myself) were people of color. I made a comment to the front desk about this practice and they said a lot of people were coming in that did not book a stay at the hotel. The Congress Hotel is a historic site with a convention center, a huge lobby, a restaurant and a bar. The reasoning provided by the front desk did not make any sense. As a person of color, I will not stay here again. Also, my room was not clean, I found a fake eyelash on the floor, and the hotel did not provide a laundry service nor could they point me in the direction of a laundry service. Overall, I think their practice of having hotel guest show a room key upon entering the building is humiliating to guests of color, I will not stay here again.

We always stay at The Congress when in town. The location is great, staff is wonderful and we love the overall feel of the older hotel. Beautiful view from the lake view rooms.
