How to get through airport security fast when traveling to Venice

If you like the idea of spending more time at the airport bar and less time moving through security on your way to Venice, follow these suggestions:

  • Make sure you know the whereabouts of your travel ID and boarding pass. You don't want to hold up the line when you're asked to hand them over.
  • You'll need to pause the tunes for a little while. Earphones and headphones must be taken off and put in a tub for X-raying. The same goes for items such as heavy jackets and belts.
  • All laptops must be taken out of their protective carriers and placed in a tray for inspection.
  • Deodorant, toothpaste and other toiletry items in cream, liquid or gel form need to be stored in containers no larger than 3.4 ounces (161 kilometerslliliters). They also need to fit in a 1-quart (1-liter) clear zip-lock plastic bag.
  • Think about the type of footwear you want to fly in. Slippers are awesome because they're easy to take off for the airport security checks. Try wearing some on your next flight!
  • Pocketknives and corkscrews are not allowed on board the aircraft. Stash them away in your checked luggage to avoid leaving them at the security checkpoint.
