Joannie Ellison.... we appreciate your past and recent patronage. Just wanted to point out that the damage deposit is included in the Travelocity website profile for the Clipper Ship Inn. Not sure about the alleged items found in the unit you occupied. You came to the office several times during your stay and failed to mention anything as described above. You should have contacted the office and we could have changed your room immediately. But no mention at any time during your multi nite stay. Likewise, no mention of anything as you exited the property. In summary, we try to anticipate any unexpected situations but in all honesty, there is a certain responsibility that the customer owns in alerting the staff of room deficiencies. If you fail to alert the staff, who really should be held accountable???

Let's set the record straight. Chris D of Westfield, Ma booked a room for one night. He appeared with a woman who had trouble walking straight. He said she just left a "program" two days ago. He was provided a key to the room. Two or three hours later, we had water cascading down the foundation wall in the basement. The water problem was directly under the unit Nancy and Chris occupied. We knocked on the door but no answer. Called Chris 3 times but no answer despite the sense of urgency. In the meantime, the water continues. When no one answered, we opened the door and announced why we were entering the unit. At the time, Chris was not there. Nancy was but was in the bathtub and failed to answer repeated knocks on the door. We spoke to her with a partially open bathroom door between us. Chris finally called back about 40 minutes later. Was asked to come to the office to discuss the situation. Instead, he decided to avoid the office and go back to the unit instead. The lockout device was not applied to the doorknob. Chris came to the office all upset. Never did explain why he did not answer our urgent calls. Kept talking about his "rights". So, the Salem Police Department was summoned to explain to Chris that his rights are limited at a hotel. The inability of Chris and Nancy to respond to the situation can be interpreted as willful destruction of our property. The police officer spent 20 minutes explaining the rights of the Clipper Ship Inn which supersedes his "rights". This morning, Nancy and Chris departed but not without going on about their "rights". Offered to call the police again but they declined. A plumber did show earlier today and room 138 is currently not available today. The situation could have been handled differently if Chris and Nancy responded in a timely manner instead of avoiding the situation at hand. As far as returning, the Clipper Ship Inn would never accept any future reservation requests from these two. We will be happy to provide a copy of the police report to anyone who is really interested in this situation.
